Methodologies
I propose an analysis of the working methods that are currently being developed in our football (Uruguay). Understand through a time line the methodologies, their appearances and evolutions, which are the product of the technical teams, which through their analysis were discovering and building new methods.
I am interested in approaching them with simplicity and in some cases linking their proposals since without a doubt, they all “step on” at some point. The difference will be knowing which method I want to use and to know the method I must master it conceptually.
EXAMPLE
Suppose we are carrying out an activity where the main task is:
1 + 4 + 1: 3 + 3 + 1

From the methodology side if we analyze the activities we can say:
What is Global revives the game, there is opposition, there is uncertainty in the game episodes, the task develops the technique, the physical condition, the psychological stimuli, in terms of tactics we should know if there is a goal in the task, and if it has a structure, if not, it is undoubtedly an Integrated activity, since these develop the technical - physical and psychological contents (depending on the activity), and generally do not present a development of the tactic.
If we approach that same activity from another place, it can be a task of Tactical Periodization, I say that if the fundamental condition will be to frame it within the game model, an essential condition of PT, that is, if that microstructure reproduces the idea of coach and it is contemplated to place it on the appropriate day, understanding that Tactical Periodization considers in its development the principles:
Of propensities
Of complex progression
From horizontal alternation in specificity
And consider how I acquire the days:
Wednesday (tension)
Thursday (duration)
Friday (speed)
This is analyzed in a "light" way, since we should obviously delve into the methodology. Following the analysis from my point of view, this task can also be linked to Structured Training, my opinion is that if it were to become or be called an SSP (Preferential Simulation Situation) which, according to the degree of complexity, could be a:
Targeted Specific SSP
Special Specific SSP
Competitive Specific SSP
Located according to its complexity in the:
Directed Transformation Microcycle (MTD)
Micro Cycle of Special Transformation (MTE)
Maintenance micro cycle (MM)
On what will its location depend, on its complexity, let us remember that Structured Training qualifies SSPs for their complexity on scales from 0 to 100, obviously 100 are situations that in some cases present more difficulties than those proposed by the game or at least it is tried.
The Analytical methodology has been a bit "punished" since this method has as its weakness exactly what other methods propose, it does not revive the game, but be careful although it is its weakness, it has other strengths such as technical - tactical improvement. It happens many times when we use the analytical methodology, we do not value including the methodological progressions.
If we analyze the latter, let us take as an example an opposite pass exercise which we can develop in the initiation, and through repetition improve and take advantage of other strengths of the analytical method, such as identifying the error chain, now if in the That footballer's training curriculum reaches the performance stage and continues with the same exercise, that is, the problem is not the methodology, it is the choice of the task, we undoubtedly did not take into account the methodological progressions.
I have carried out a very light analysis and without any depth on the methodologies, the intention is to give it the importance that they really have since as we exemplify a task according to how it is designed, regulated, located, it can be a tool of all methodologies.
As a consequence of this, I consider that coaches should be specialists in methodologies, in order to know how to choose them, which correspond to each workplace, since for their development it must be taken into account:
Budget - Idiosyncrasy - Analysis of footballers - Curriculum of the training received from those footballers - Infrastructure - Objectives - etc.
In this tour I must clearly mark that we will find coaches affiliated in particular with a methodology and in each place of action it is proposed above all analysis, and we also find coaches who from the analysis find the methodology.
Personally, I approach it with a methodology that we can call eclectic.
(Which tries to gather, trying to reconcile them, values, ideas, trends, etc., from different systems)
We think that there is no single methodology to develop in a working time (12 months), the idiosyncrasy, the periods, the ages, the characteristics of the club, the population of footballers, the training process they have received, and many more elements. , have made us think about this methodology and put it into practice, the eclectic methodology as its definition says it tries to bring together.
In conclusion, seen from the sport we would talk about what it tries to use as appropriate, periods, moments, activity etc. different methodologies, in their planning even in the same daily session.
It is essential for its development to know in depth all the methodologies since from there we start to identify their use and associations.
The method proposes some difficulties, such as internal and external load controls, another difficulty that it presents is the design of the program and activities, the technical team has to be adjusting and evaluating the tools and procedures to carry out on a daily basis. in the development of the program and design of daily activities.
Some considerations that seem important to us:
Without a coach there is no methodology, without methodology there is no coach either.
Undoubtedly, the actions of the coach affect the method, it is not only to develop a methodology, both are needed to carry out a great job, in order to achieve the first mission of the Coach, to improve the soccer player day by day and therefore the improvement of the team.
On many occasions, complexity takes us out of focus, and we lose sight of what is really important, no matter how simple the “basics” may seem well done.
To finish, I have tried to go through the methodologies that are currently being developed in a superficial way, having as a future idea to take one by one and go deeper into future articles.
